RECREO

Decision Support System

System Overview

About The System

RECREO is a project focused on making hazelnut farming more efficient and climate-resilient using digital technology It created a Decision Support System (DSS) that helps farmers Use water more efficiently based on crop needs and weather Manage plant nutrition better by detecting nutrient deficiencies early  The goal is to save resources, keep production stable, and make hazelnut orchards more sustainable over time.',

“RSI Competitive Repositioning” Notice pursuant to the 2021-2027 ERDF Program referred to in Det. n. G18823 dated 12/28/2022.

Resource-Efficient & Climate-change Resilient hazelnut Orchard

The RECREO project pursues the objective of providing indications and digital solutions for the rational use of water and nutritional resources,

often with limited availability, identifying medium and long-term management objectives.

The application of the RECREO DSS allows us to trace the guidelines for sustainable agronomic management and to determine new digital solutions,

to be applied at company and/or district level (for example the hazelnut-growing district of the Cimini mountains),

in order to bring about significant savings in resources with clear benefits for the Community,

guaranteeing adequate production and, at the same time, safeguarding the resilience of agroforestry systems, in this case of the hazelnut

The RECREO (Resource-Efficient & Climate-change Resilient hazelnut Orchard) project has developed digital and agriculture 4.0 solutions aimed at the optimised,

resilient and sustainable management of the "corileto", which is a very widespread fruit tree agroecosystem at a regional and national level.

The final objective was the development of a decision support system (DSS) with respect to some agronomic aspects in the management of the choriletus,

            with particular attention to:

  •             The rational management of the irrigation supply, based on the actual needs of the crop in relation to the phenological stage the pedoclimatic characteristics of the cultivated area and the expected seasonal production;
  •             The sustainable management of nutrition, through the development of digital solutions for "early detection" of the main nutritional deficiencies via the leaves,

for a rapid restoration of the ordinary nutritional status of the crop through foliar nutrition interventions,

contributing to the reduction of nutrient drift phenomena from the cultivation system and functional to the definition of site-cultivar specific hazelnut fertilization protocols.
